In the opening match of this matchweek, Manchester United played against Aston Villa at Old Trafford. Just like in previous encounters of these two teams, fans enjoyed the game with lots of goals, since the final result was 4:1 for the home side. Rooney scored another brace, Hernandez also found the net, but the most important moment of the match happened in 56th minute. After a ricochet in Aston Villa’s penalty box, Fellaini managed to pass the ball to Mata and the Spanish player scored his first goal as player of Manchester United. His celebration and reaction on twitter showed how much it meant to him.

Also, his teammates were happy for him, and De Gea and Jones were first to congratulate Mata.

The first of many goals you are going to score with this @juanmata8 shirt. Congrats mate. #MUFC

In his past 10 games for Red Devils, Mata provided three assists, but he has finally scored his first goal in this season. This will certainly boost his confidence in the following weeks, but sadly for him, he won’t be able to help his club in the clash against Bayern Munich in quarterfinal games of Champions League. Nevertheless, Mata now has a mission of his own – to convince Spanish coach, Del Bosque, that he is fit and capable to help their national team defend the World Champion tittle and book a place among the 23 players that will travel to Brazil in June.
