Last Wednesday, Liverpool won their seventh consecutive league match. On Anfield, Sunderland was defeated with 2:1 and even though the Reds were not so impressive like in their last couple of games, they showed the skill of champions – to win the points even when they don’t play very well. Now they will have to focus on the upcoming 7 games, and fans are in a state of euphoria. After the game, the club bus was welcomed with songs about winning the league.

And the heroes of the victory were Gerrard and Sturridge. Liverpool’s captain scored an amazing goal from freekick and showed once again that his presence, knowledge, and skills will be crucial in the chase for a dream called Premier League trophy. If you missed the goal, here is a reminder:

In the second half, Sturridge scored a second goal which proved to be the winning goal for the Reds. His goal tally in Liverpool is now 30 and he became Liverpool’s fastest player since 1890 to do this. We already wrote about his performances during this season and this is just confirmation of his class. The player also stated via his twitter account that he is very proud of this achievement :

I’m honoured to be the fastest player since the 1890s to score 30 league goals for Liverpool FC. #GivingGodtheglory. pic.twitter.com/SJS1IihbeD

Currently sitting on the 2nd position on the table, Liverpool is one point behind Chelsea and two points ahead of Manchester City (which have two games less than Reds). However, in next seven game-weeks, they will host both of their rivals at Anfield, and potential victories will put faith of their tittle chase in their own hands.
