According to The Guardian, Manchester City have offered Bacary Sagna a 3 year contract. Sagna’s contract at Arsenal runs out in the summer and is currently in a stand-off with his current club.

Sagna, who is 31, has been with the club since 2007. Arsene Wenger is willing to offer Sagna more than his usual one year contract for players over 30, in order to keep him from being another player to move from Arsenal to City.

Reports suggest that Arsenal have a 2 year contract on the table for Sagna, but he is determined to get a 3 year deal. Other clubs like Inter and PSG are interested in Sagna, but it looks as though he wants to stay in England.

This transfer rumor is coming from The Guardian in England, which does provide accurate stories time after time, so I give it a 7 out of 10 in rumour strength.

If Sagna were to leave Arsenal for City, I would question whether he would play on a consistent basis. City have Zabaleta at right back and he is the number one there, so Sagna would be a backup there, but a starter at Arsenal.

Sagna has been a great defender for Arsenal since his arrival and would bring that quality to City as well. This move would strengthen the depth of City in the backline. I give this move a 5 out of 10 as far as helping City, because I do not see the need for this move, as City need to first find a good center back to play alongside Vincent Kompany.

Sagna could join the likes of Adebayor, Nasri, and Clichy who, have made the switch from Arsenal to City in the past few seasons. If Sagna does make the switch, it would help City’s depth, but also weaken Arsenal once more. I can see this move happening, but I do not think the odds are likely at the current moment. I give the chances of this occurring a 30 percent chance.
