The United States Men’s National Team announced the 22-man roster which will be used in the April 2, 2014 international friendly against Mexico. The game to be played in Glendale, Arizona will be an important contest for Jurgen Klinsmann in his search for the final 23 players which will represent the USA in the upcoming FIFA Brazil 2014 World Cup.
Considering this friendly will not land on a FIFA Match Day, Klinsmann was only able to name one player based in Europe; Julian Green. The young 18 year old winger from Bayern Munich is an exciting prospect for both the Bundesliga side, as well as for the USMNT future, therefore Klinsmann pushed for the player to represent the USA. Green will most likely make his debut next Wednesday, although it is doubtful that he will represent the United States next June.
The other two players named who do not play in the Major League Soccer are DaMarcus Beasley, and Michael Orozco who play for Puebla in the Liga MX. There was uncertainty as if any players from Xolos of Tijuana would be included, but the list shows otherwise considering Club Tijuana will face Cruz Azul on April 1 in the semifinals of the CONCACAF Champions League.
This 22-man roster, although almost MLS based, is a strong team which will be the base for the World Cup. These players will give Klinsmann a headache when considering who will be included in that final list next May.
