After the victory over Olympiacos, Manchester United players took some pressure off their back for the upcoming days. Following the painful defeat against rival Liverpool, many things became obvious – they will not qualify for the Champions League as the 4th team in league table, tactics of David Moyes were horrible, and the final result was devastating for fans. But last night, the team showed their character and spirit and triumphed 3-0, which was enough to advance to the next phase on aggregate score.

Many former players were watching the game and their comments on social networks were filled with optimism.

What a great night it was at Old Trafford yesterday, really enjoyed the team’s performance, it was vintage @ManUtdpic.twitter.com/iWyUD08MKX

Happier today! United through and a good performance. Giggsy / Welbeck and De Gea excellent performers. Keep it going now..

Just landed in Manchester. Must admit, I didn’t see that result coming last night. Huge boost for United and what a Quarter Final line up.

All of the former players were really satisfied with the performance, with highlights on De Gea, Van Persie and veteran Giggs. This is great for the morale of the club, since they will host their local rival, Manchester City next Tuesday. Although the Red Devils are underdogs in this match, it is certain they will do their best to triumph over their “noisy neighbors” and gain morale satisfaction as the season comes to an end. But, now it is sure that Moyes will focus on the Champions League, to regain the trust of the fans and club owners. It is obvious that Manchester United is not among favorites to win this competition, but with a little bit of luck at the draw on Friday, everything is possible.
