Reports are now suggesting that Liverpool are favorites to land Luke Shaw, the talented young 18 year old left back from Southampton (source: Caughtoffside). Shaw has been highly regarded for some time now and has been tracked by the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United among others.

Liverpool are looking to boost that defense that has been their Achilles heel this season. Aly Cissoko, who is on loan from Valencia, will return back at the end of the season and Liverpool are looking for a replacement. Brendan Rodgers is very much impressed with Shaw’s game and is hoping that he can convince him to join the Reds, who love to give youngsters a chance to play.

Luke Shaw, who has just been called up to the England squad for their friendly next week, has an array of talent. He plays on a Southampton side that are full of youngsters and he has impressed this season on a consistent basis. Shaw loves to get forward and crosses the ball extremely well.

Southampton is a side that has a knack of developing young talents. Theo Walcott played there before transferring to Arsenal. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is another who started out with the Saints before heading to the Gunners. And even Gareth Bale cam form Southampton’s youth system before making the switch to Tottenham and now Real Madrid.

There is no doubt that Luke Shaw has an abundance of skills and quality and can make any side better. Shaw will more than likely leave Southampton at some point but the question is will it be this summer and where would he go? Plenty of top clubs are in for the left back, not just Liverpool, so we wait and see where Shaw’s future lies.
