Liverpool failed to sign Dnipro winger Yevhen Konoplyanka in the January transfer window, but may try to bring him in to Anfield in the summer. The 24-year-old Ukraine international has shown his eagerness to join the Reds, but failed to do so, as both clubs failed to reach an agreement. According to clubcall.com, Rodgers still shows his strong interest in Konoplyanka to strengthen his squad.

Rodgers said, “I feel sorry for the player, who was desperate to come to one of the biggest clubs in the world, and that chance has gone now. If we feel the player can improve us, we will look at it again in the summer.”

Some good news is coming in as Dnipro executive director Andriy Rusol, told the Ukrainian press that he expects Liverpool to sign Yevhen Konoplyanka in the summer.

“I am a thousand per cent sure that Liverpool will try again in the summer and then we’ll let him go,” he is quoted as telling Ukrainian media.

Rusol’s statement has obviously revealed that the Ukrainian side have already given a green light to the summer transfer move. It seems almost certain that Konoplyanka will surely be Liverpool’s player this summer.

So, the decision is in the hands of both the player, Yevhen Konoplyanka and the president of Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk, Ihor Komoloyskyi. The summer transfer window is still a long way to go and anything might happen, but Liverpool are in a strong position to sign the Ukrainian winger in the summer.
