The Independiente Santa Fe vs Monarcas Morelia Copa Libertadores clash will be played this Tuesday, February 4, 2014 (5:30 PM Pacific) at the Estadio El Campin.  The Cardenales from Bogota and Monarcas will face off in the second leg of their pre-groups knock out stage.  Santa Fe has the pressure to come-back from a 1-2 loss in the first game, while Morelia only has to tie to reach Group 4 of the Libertadores 2014.

Independiente Santa Fe will enter Tuesday’s match in good rhythm after their 2-1 victory over the weekend against Fortaleza in the Colombian league.  The team coached by Wilson Gutierrez needs to win this match by a 1-0, or by more than two goals in order to win the series.  With a 2-1 win, Monarcas and Cardenales will go into penalty kicks without the possibility of overtime.  With a tie or a loss for the Colombian side, the team from Michoacan will move on.

The team coached by Eduardo De La Torre is ready to defend their goal in the always difficult El Campin.  The Mexican side must tie, win, or lose 2-3 in order to reach Group 4.  Morelia has played in a poor form this 2014 calendar, as earlier last week they were forced to fire coach Carlos Bustos.  Under ‘Yayo’, the team defeated Santa Fe 2-1, and last Friday tied Leon 0-0; however, there is still much to improve, and this Tuesday will be a good parameter to see in what shape the team is in.

Note: The winner of this series will join Group 4 along with Atletico Mineiro, Nacional, and Zamora.

Independiente Santa Fe vs Monarcas Morelia Prediction

The Santa Fe vs Morelia second leg match will be played in an incredible atmosphere.  The ‘Expreso Rojo’ fans at the stadium will be with a lot of pressure as they want for their team to reach the group stages of the Libertadores.  Reaching the next round means that there is hope for Santa Fe to match, or even improve from their semifinal performance from last year at the Libertadores.

Monarcas Morelia is still adapting to their new coach, therefore they will have some issues throughout the match, but the team is highly talented and motivated to win this series.  In a close game, the Santa Fe vs Monarcas match will end in a 2-2 tie; Morelia will move into the next stage.
