Fabio Coentrao, Real Madrid’s left back, reportedly got a permission to leave the Royal club in the January transfer window. After a chat with the coach Carlo Ancelotti, both parties agreed that it is better that they parted ways (Source: AS – Spanish Sports Paper).

Coentrao has played only two games for Real this season, and it is clear that Ancelotti isn’t counting on him. Fabio is a Portugal representative, and he needs sufficient playing time if he wants to book his ticket to Brazil.

Manchester United has been keen to buy a left back since the summer transfer window. Moyes wants Leighton Baines from his former club Everton, but the price to pay for him is high, and Everton manager Martinez told the press that he will not sell the English representative to anyone, including Manchester United.

This past summer, Moyes missed out on Coentrao because of the paper work necessary on the transfer deadline day. Back then, Moyes only wanted to loan the player, but now, he has the opportunity to buy the Portuguese star, and get a long-term solution for his left back problem.

Fabio is cheaper than Baines, Real will probably ask around 10 million pounds, which should be regarded as a bargain deal to United.

Coentrao has played for all Portugal national selections, starting from U18 team, and he has featured in 43 senior representative matches. He is only 25 years old and he can still perform at the highest level.

His possible move away from Real Madrid would be a fresh start for the Portuguese, and with transfer fees currently going through the roof, the 10 million pound price tag is really a bargain deal for potentially one of the best players in the World in the left back position.
