O Jogo, a Portugal newspaper, announced through its website that Benfica of Portugal are interested in acquiring Liga MX Tigres striker Alan Pulido. Pulido is a talented 22 year old that has impressed at Tigres, a very difficult accomplishment, considering Tigres’ coach, Tuca Ferreti, rarely uses young players.
O Jogo states that Pulido’s agent, Maurio Garcia de la Vega, has already spoken with Benfica. De la Vega stated “we know there is interest in the player, but we have not received any formal offers”. Although this could be just one more of the many rumors that always go around near the January transfer season, Pulido does have the quality to play in Europe.
Pulido scored 9 goals through 19 games this Apertura 2013, this could be considered his break-out season. Tigres’ main striker suffered an injury early in the season, thus allowing Pulido the opportunity to get some playing time (Tuca Ferreti rarely offers youngsters any chances). Pulido impressed, and remained a constant fixture in Tucas’ starting XI.
