The America vs Veracruz Liga MX Week 12 match will be this Saturday, September 28, 2013 (3:00 PM Pacific) at the Estadio Luis Pirata Fuente in Veracruz. Club America is coming to Veracruz, and the locals have taken notice. Ticket prices for this game were increased so much, that the local government had to temporarily shut down ticket sales to investigate the price anomaly. Over 1,300 police officers will be stationed at the stadium to ensure security. Both coaches are saying that they have forgotten/don’t care that they used to coach the other side. The America vs Veracruz match is shaping up to be an explosive game.
Club America has been playing well all season long, they are currently sitting in first place with 22 points, and with two extra matches left to play (they will make up Week’s 2 match against Xolos on Tuesday). Miguel Herrera has done an excellent job with his team, and it showed last week, when they crushed Chiapas 3-1 at home. Now, America wants to continue its winning ways against a weakened Veracruz.
Early on in the season, it appeared Veracruz was going to go on an incredible run this season, however, they have not won since Week 4. Veracruz has lost three out of the past five matches, getting draws in the other two. Sitting in 10th place with 14 points, it is imperative for Veracruz to at least earn a draw against America.
Veracruz ran into a bit of bad luck however, when Angel Reyna injured his left elbow during mid-week training with the Mexican National Team. The striker, which leads the league in scoring with 8 goals, might play with a cast on, although it is likely he won’t make an appearance. Without their most experienced player on the field, it will be almost impossible for Veracruz to defeat the red-hot Club America.
Club America will have all of its key players, except for Hobbit Bermudez, who is out with a foot injury.
America vs Veracruz Prediction
With Club America playing as well as it has all season long, and Veracruz likely missing its key player, I just don’t see the home team ending the game with any points. Club America will control the ball and generate plenty of scoring opportunities, ultimately ending with the victory. The America vs Veracruz match will end in a 2-0 away victory for the Azulcremas.
