The Chivas vs Toluca Liga MX Week 8 match will take place on Sunday, September 1, 2013 (3:00 PM Pacific) at the Estadio Omnilife. On one side, we have a troubled Chivas that has struggled to gain any traction this season, and sits near the bottom of the standings. On the other, Toluca has only lost once and has been playing well enough.

New Chivas head coach Juan Carlos Ortega is in a very difficult position, his team has lost 3 Liga MX matches in a row, and currently sits in 16th place with just 4 points earned. Chivas has been awful in all aspects on the field. The offense has only scored five goals in six games; the defense has allowed 12 goals. The new coach did not appear to add any positive effects to the team.

Toluca has not lost since Week 1, and has won its last two matches. Now, the Diablos Rojos face a very weak and troubled Chivas squad, that could easily become Toluca’s third consecutive victory.

Toluca’s success is due in great part to the great offensive performance; Toluca has scored 14 goals in 7 matches, and is currently ranked as the second best offense in the Liga MX. Pablo Velazquez has played an important role in Toluca’s offensive success, he has scored 6 goals in 7 appearances.

Chivas vs Toluca Prediction

Toluca has all of the momentum going into the match against Chivas, coach Cardozo knows his team well and it shows. Chivas is a mess, and has shown no signs of suddenly improving. Look for Toluca to dominate the match, while Chivas struggles to put more than a couple of passes together. The Chivas vs Toluca match will end in a 0-2 away win for Toluca.

With Vucetich now available, it will be interesting to see if a couple of losses in a row for coach Ortega would lead to his early dismissal.
