The Spain vs Nigeria match ended in a 3-0 victory for the Spaniards, which cruised past the Super Eagles, and have won Group B with a perfect 9 out of 9 points. With the loss, Nigeria has been eliminated from the Confederations Cup 2013, while Spain moves on to face Italy in the semifinals.

The Spain vs Nigeria game started off with quick a goal from left back Jordi Alba, who drilled the ball inside the box and applied a clinical finish. The Nigerians were able to recuperate however, and applied a high-pressure style that decreased Spain’s ability to control possession. This resulted in some decent chances for the Nigerians, who were able to get lots of players into the box.

The Spaniards adjusted, and played a bit more of a counterattacking style, creating several opportunities by lobbing passes to Soldado across the Nigerian lines. Soldado missed several clear scoring opportunities, and was unable to add to the lead.

Del Bosque subbed in Fernando Torres, Silva, and Villa during the second half; greatly improving the attacking prowess of the European squad. Winded from playing a high-pressure match the entire game, the Nigerians started to concede more opportunities, eventually leading to a Fernando Torres goal in the 62nd minute.

Jordi Alba sealed the rout and clinched the MVP award with an 88th minute goal off a counterattack. With the 3-0 victory in the Spain vs Nigeria match, La Furia Roja end with the lead in Group B– 9 out of 9 points earned, 15 goals scored, and just 1 allowed. Spain will face Italy in the semifinals on Thursday, June 27.

Playing all three matches at half-gas, and still winning easily, Spain has shown it is the big favorite to win the Confederations Cup 2013. They will face an Italian squad that has been struggling lately, allowing 8 goals in 3 matches. Spain will be the favorite on Thursday, and we can all only hope to see an amazing Brazil vs Spain final match.
