Leon has been very disappointing this season, they’ve won just 1 game (against San Luis, the worst team in the Liga MX), lost 6 and tied twice. It’s almost hard to believe that this same squad was just 1 goal away from playing in the Apertura 2012 championship series. Now, Leon sits in 16th place, with no (very little) playoff hopes, Copa Libertadores dreams long ago shattered, and a broken locker room.
Matosas needs to do something, not just to help his squad, but to give the Leon/Pachuca ownership a reason to keep him after the end of the season. Even though Matosas gained promotion for Leon, and had a fantastic Apertura 2012, I still believe he will be released if the team doesn’t show any improvements by the end of the season.
