America played with just 9 men for most of the match, and were still able to come out of the Estadio Caliente with the 2-1 victory and three points. An early penalty gave America the 1-0 lead, however, 2 red cards followed and American was down to 9 players. Tijuana dominated the ball but was unable to score- America scored on a counterattack early in the second half to make it 2-0.
Tijuana played its worst game of the season, while America defended fantastically and deservedly won the match.
