The Sao Paulo vs Bolivar Copa Libertadores match will be this Wednesday, January 23, 2013 (7:00 PM EDT) at the Estadio do Morumbi.  This will be the first encounter between these two teams as they face-off in the preliminary round of the Copa Bridgestone Libertadores 2013 for one ticket to Group 5.

Sao Paulo will play their first game of the Copa Libertadores 2013 at home against Bolivar from Bolivia.  Although they qualified into the preliminary stages, Sao Paulo is one of the favorites to win this year’s tournament.  Just a few months back, they became Copa Sudamericana 2013 champs in that controversial match at home against Tigre from Argentina.  The Brazilian squad is a clear favorite to defeat Bolivar, but there will be a small obstacle because their star midfielder, Ganso, is doubtful for the match.

Bolivar is very weak in terms of talent, history, and success when compared with Sao Paulo.  Nevertheless, they will look to make a surprise by defeating or at least tying the Brazilian squad at the Morumbi stadium.  A positive result will complicate things for Sao Paulo because they play the second leg in La Paz, Bolivia at a 3,600 meter altitude.  The winner of the series will advance to Group 5 composed of Arsenal (ARG), The Strongest (BOL), and Atletico Mineiro (BRA).

Sao Paulo vs Bolivar Prediction

Sao Paulo comes into the tournament as one of the favorites to win the title.  They have a history of success in this tournament, and to prolong it they will first have to eliminate Bolivar.  The Bolivian side is not very strong and they are clear under-dogs, but miracles do happen.  The Sao Paulo vs Bolivar Copa Libertadores 2013 match will end 3-0 in favor of the home team.
