The Jaguares vs Monterrey 2013 match will take place at the Estadio Victor Manuel Reyna in Chiapas on Friday, January 18, 2013 at 8:30 PM Eastern. This Clausura 2013 week 3 match-up features a Jaguares squad that has yet to earn any points, and a Monterrey squad that is coming off a home victory. Can Jaguares snap out of the slow start?
Jaguares- another season, another slow start
In the Apertura 2012, Jaguares started off the season with 1 draw and 4 losses, a terrible start that kept them from getting to the playoffs. The Clausura 2013 offers, unfortunately for their fans, a similar start. Jaguares has lost both its games by a combined score of 0-5, terrible defense and ineffective offense is yet again the issue. Chiapas needs to make a stand against Monterrey, Jaguares cannot afford to lose any more points at home.
Last week against America, Jaguares were defeated 2-0 at home. Even though the ref made a terrible mistake in America’s first goal, Jaguares were nowhere close to pulling off a win or even a draw. Club America dominated the match, and were the deserved winners, even with the ref interference. Will the Jaguares ownership allow yet another slow start from Coach Cruz’ team? I don’t think so, if Cruz loses this match, expect him to be out of work come Monday.
Monterrey- looking to add points
Monterrey had a rough start of the season, when it lost to America due to a (somewhat dubious) late penalty. However, last week they recuperated by defeating Morelia 1-0 at home. Monterrey didn’t play a great game, and are still a shadow of what they were just 7 months ago when they won the CONCACAF Champions League.
Jaguares will be the perfect test as to whether Monterrey will have a good season, or another mediocre one. Jaguares is currently the worst team in the Liga MX, and not coming out of the Estadio Victor Manuel Reyna with any points can be a sign of deep issues in Monterrey.
Jaguares vs Monterrey 2013 prediction
The Jaguares vs Monterrey 2013 match is a game that ‘Profe Cruz’ cannot afford to lose; I don’t believe that the Jaguares ownership will be patient after yet another season with a terrible start. For that reason, Jaguares will go out looking for the win, attacking and hoping to break through Monterrey’s defense. Vucetich will play a defensive, counterattacking style, using Jaguares’ aggression to his advantage. I predict that the Jaguares vs Monterrey match will end in a 1-1 draw.
