The ´panzas verdes´ and the Apertura 2012 runner-ups will meet up in Week 3 of the Clausura 2013 in one of the must-watch games of the weekend. Leon lost against rivals Xolos last week while Toluca obtained a late tie against Puebla.
After an offseason filled with star player signings, Leon has struggled to play a style of soccer that is aggressive and productive. During Week 1 they tied against relegation favorites Queretaro 2-2, while last week they were completely dominated by Xolos to a 1-0 loss. Leon has had difficulties adapting to a new offense which is composed of Nery Castillo. Against Toluca, Castillo will have to show his quality and ability to be an integral part of the offense.
Like Leon, Toluca has disatisfied fans because they have not played like the team that led the league in points last season. During Week 1 they tied Chivas 1-1 and last week they also tied Puebla by the same score. The problem with the ´diablos rojos´ is that their captain and playmaker, Sinha, has been out with an injury, thus destroying the team´s offensive mentality.

Both Leon and Toluca were top-teams throughout the entire Apertura 2012. After two games this season, these teams look tired, out of form, and as if they cannot gel to play the style of soccer fans got used to seeing. Friday´s game will be the first time one of thse two squads wins this Clausura 2013, and while it will be a close match, the home-side will have the advantage. The Leon vs Toluca 2013 match will end 1-0 in favor of the panzas verdes.
