Leon vs Monterrey 2012 – Liga MX Week 10

The  Leon vs Monterrey match will be held on Friday, September 28 at 10:30 PM EDT. This match will pit two of the best Liga MX teams against each other: Leon is currently in 4th place, while Monterrey is in the 3rd spot. However, Leon is on a two game win less streak, and are looking to get a win in front of their rowdy home fans.

Last week, Leon visited a feisty Puebla squad that fought tooth and nail to get a point off of what was supposed to be an easy game for Leon. When you add the fact that Leon surprisingly lost against Chivas in Week 8 at home, it now makes it two weeks that Leon has not earned three points at a time. Monterrey is not the best choice for a team looking to earn three points…

Monterrey is on a seven game unbeaten streak, and actually won its last two games. This great run has placed Monterrey in the third spot of the Liga MX, and a legitimate candidate for the Apertura 2012 championship. Last week, Monterrey defeated the bottom-dwelling Queretaro team that put up an unexpected fight. In the end, Monterrey was able to hold them of and earn the three points at home. Monterrey can expect another tough game when they visit Leon.

Leon has the best offense in the Liga MX, they have scored 16 goals in nine games, and will be looking to add to the count. Monterrey is also up there in goals, having scored 13 so far, with players like Suazo, it’s hard not to be near the top of the goals tally. Both their defenses are average: Leon has allowed nine, while Monterrey has allowed 10. The Leon vs Monterrey match is setting up to be one of the best matches of Week 10.

Prediction: Leon and Monterrey are top of the table teams that are favorites to make it to the Liga MX playoffs. Even though Leon has not won either of its last two games, it has still played fairly well, and we should expect to see more of the same against Monterrey. Monterrey is on a great undefeated streak, and I believe they will continue their streak. In the end, I believe both of these teams will play a highly offensive, high-scoring game that ends in a draw. The score for the Leon vs Monterrey match will be 2-2. Although, I would give a slight edge to Leon due to their rabid home fans (let’s hope they keep violence to a minimum).

Television: The Leon vs Monterrey match will be televised this Friday, September 28 at 10:30 PM EDT on Mun2.
