The United States men’s soccer will face Jamaica in the fourth game of Group A on Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at 8:00 PM EDT at the Columbus Crew Stadium.  This game is significant for the USMNT’s journey to the Brazil 2014 World Cup because a loss could put their qualification in jeopardy.  Moreover, these two nations faced each other in Jamaica on Friday, and the ‘reggae-boys’ took a 2-1 victory to lead the group by three points.  Jamaica has been more than impressive thus far into the CONCACAF World Cup Qualifiers, and a victory or a tie against the USMNT could signify their qualification to the final round.  However, the USA is a strong opponent at home, and although they have not had great appearances for some time now, they still have the talent, experience, and home support to take the victory, but most importantly, a deep breath of air.

The USMNT had a very weak midfield in the first game against Jamaica where they were beat on the counter-attack.  This could be due to Michael Bradley’s absence due to injury, but the US will have to repair this issue by being more aggressive offensively.  Brek Shea began the past game in the bench, even with Landon Donovan missing due to injury; therefore having the talented young winger from the beginning can give the USMNT that offensive boost they lack.  Defensively, the team played well, but two free kicks made Jamaica the winner.  The United States has the ability to take the much needed three points, but this will only be done if the midfield has control of the ball.

Jamaica is still celebrating from their victory against the USMNT.  Not just because they beat a superior team, but because they are one step away from the final CONCACAF round.  They know that another victory against the United States will put them very close to the last round; therefore they will play under the same tactical system as they did last Friday.  Jamaica will play on the quick counter-attack, but also a right defensive game, to at least try to win one point away from home.

Prediction:  Although Jamaica won the previous game, the United States has the home advantage and the pressure to win.  Led by Clint Dempsey and Herculez Gomez, the USMNT will play a smart offensive game and will take the three points.  With the victory, both teams will be tied for the lead of Group A with seven points with two games remaining.  The score will be USA 2-0 Jamaica.

Television: The USMNT vs. Jamaica match will be shown this Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at 8:00 PM EDT on ESPN2, ESPN3, and Galavision.
