Club America is currently searching for a full-time replacement for former manager Santiago Solari. One of the names that has repeatedly been mentioned as a potential option has been the current Puebla manager Nicolas Larcamon.
Some reports seem to suggest that the Argentine manager will surely join Club America at the end of the current season. However, it was revealed by TV Azteca reporter David Medrano that any team that wants Larcamon for next season will need to pay a substantial release clause fee of 900 thousand dollars.
Larcamon’s contract ends in December of 2022 and Medrano did mention in his report that the 37-year-old will renew his contract until December of 2023. This will mean that his current release clause will surely rise, given the current demand for the Argentine manager in the Liga MX.
For now, if Larcamon decides not to extend his contract, any team interested in him will need to pay the already mentioned release clause of 900 thousand dollars to Puebla. This clause has the potential to put some teams out of the running for Nicolas Larcamon, but teams like Club America and Monterrey have more than enough capital to get the deal done.
Club America recently promoted Fernando Ortiz as the first team’s head coach from the U-20 squad, but it is unclear as to how long he will be in charge of the club. Las Aguilas seem to be taking time with the new managerial signing after Santiago Solari’s disappointing spell at the team.
