Corinthians officially announced the signing of 33-year-old Argentine striker Mauro Boselli this Friday, January 4, 2019. Boselli is coming over from Mexican club Leon, where he became a legend at the club, nearly becoming the all-time goalscorer for the team.
The Buenos Aires native played with Los Esmeraldas from 2013-2018 and scored a total of 130 goals in all competitions. Boselli was just seven goals away from surpassing Adalberto “Dumbo” Lopez and becoming Leon’s all-time goalscorer.
The move came as a shock to many Leon and Liga MX fans as Boselli had become the face of the franchise with La Fiera. The 33-year-old scored nine goals in all competitions this past season and still has the talent to be an impactful striker for any team in North or South America.

Boselli has a very strong physical presence and an immense positioning and finishing ability that should make him prosper at a team like Corinthians. The Argentine had previously played in his native country and in Europe before arriving in Leon and should adapt well to the Brazilian game.
