This Sunday, December 23, 2018, it was officially announced by Liga MX club Queretaro that goalkeeper Tiago Volpi would be sent on a year-long loan to Sao Paulo. Los Gallos Blancos also announced that Volpi had renovated his contract until 2022 and this was an opportunity for Volpi to get more recognition in Brazil.
The press release specifically mentioned that this would be an opportunity for Volpi to get attention from the Brazil national team. The Brazilian shot-stopper has been one of the best goalkeepers in the Liga MX over the past few seasons and definitely deserves a shot at competing at an international level.
Volpi arrived in Queretaro in the 2015 Clausura tournament when Ronaldinho was still at the team. The 28-year-old has been a consistent starter and key player at Queretaro since 2015 and became the face of the franchise and a fan-favorite.
Volpi had previously played with Figueirense in his native country, but will now play with Sao Paulo, one of the biggest teams in Brazil. This is a golden opportunity for Volpi and it will be interesting to see if he does get that recognition he deserves and even possibly makes a jump to a European team.
