Liverpool have started the Premier League season on a high. Jurgen Klopp’s side are widely expected to challenge for the League title this season and judging from their performances so far, that could potentially happen. They have, so far, recorded impressive victories against West Ham, Crystal Palace and Brighton & Hove Albion.

So far, the Reds’ midfield has looked solid and it is hard to fault anyone for bad performances at this stage. Competition for places in the midfield is so intense, that even Jordan Henderson has mainly been confined to appearances off the bench.

Things have, however, not gone according to plan for the Reds’ summer signing Fabinho.

After arriving in a £44 million deal from Monaco during the summer transfer window, Fabinho is widely expected by many to be a star in the Reds’ midfield this season. However, the Brazil international is yet to make an appearance for his new club this season and was not even included in the match-day squad for the game against Brighton.

Manager Klopp has spoken out on the issue and urged fans to be patient with Fabinho, as he is taking time to adapt to the style of play used at Liverpool and in the Premier League.

Fabinho has now spoken about his struggles.

As quoted by The Metro, he said: ‘I’m aware it’s a different playing style than Monaco. There were two in midfield there whereas here at Liverpool there’s usually three. My midfield partners have provided me with guidance and assistance. So have the defence.

‘I knew it would change and I feel I’ve adapted well. You seek guidance from the other players around you and that’s worked really well and I feel my performances in pre-season were good. Although the systems are slightly different, there are similarities too.

‘Monaco had a transition similar to Liverpool’s. I think the two teams can be compared in this way; both them have very fast transition, with very fast players up front. I hope to be as important here as I was at Monaco.’
