Report: Manchester United’s deal for Yerry Mina collapses, Everton now leading race

The Sun reports that Mourinho’s bid to land Yerry Mina has collapsed, as the centre-back’s adviser, Felipe Russo, was demanding payments that the Red Devils would not agree to. Furthermore, several major news sites, including Sport, are already listing Everton as the front-runner to pry away Mina from Barcelona.

Manchester United had reportedly met with Yerry Mina’s agent last week and came close to agreeing on a 5-year deal. However, just prior to the agreed upon deadline, Felipe Russo reportedly asked for extra fees to be paid to himself and Mina, fees which Manchester United was unable to accept.

This led to a complete collapse of the deal, and it appears Mina has moved on from Manchester United and is already being heavily linked with Everton, for a supposed £32m move.

Although the 23-year-old Colombian barely spent half a year with Barcelona, he is still regarded as a talented centre-back with a great future. Nonetheless, Barcelona do not see him as part of their squad going forward and are using Mina’s great World Cup performance (3 goals scored) to hopefully sell him off for a hefty profit (Barcelona paid Palmeiras €11.8 m for Mina).

Mina will very likely be playing in the EPL next season, though it is looking to be with Everton rather than Manchester United.
