Rangers completed the recruitments of 5 players over the January transfer window, and with competition for playing time bound to become stiffer as a result, a couple of fringe players and non starters were routinely linked with possible exits.
Jason Holt was amongst such players, but the midfielder has moved to quell such rumours, revealing that leaving Ibrox was never on his mind.
The 24-year-old has featured mostly off the bench since Graeme Murty took charge, but has nonetheless managed 22 appearances thus far.
When asked if he had considered an exit or was determined to stay and fight for his place, Holt replied: “I think I was always determined to stay here and fight for my place.
“I realised that there would be competition this season and I knew that the gaffer would strengthen the squad. But I was always determined to stay and fight for my place. I think I can help the team.”
The Scottish ace has weighed in a goal and 7 assists this term, and he remains integral to Rangers, highlighted by the fact that he was chosen to skipper the side during the most recent games against Aberdeen and Ross County.
Holt has his work cut out for him if he wants regular playing time going forward, with the centre midfield duo of Sean Goss and Greg Docherty both set to challenge for a place in Murty’s starting XI following their arrivals last month.
