Rangers’ chances of landing Kilmarnock winger Jordan Jones appear to have taken a hit after the club knocked backed their £350,000 opening offer.
The 23-year-old is a top target of manager Graeme Murty as he goes about revamping his squad, but the Killie, through boss Steve Clarke who emerged as Ladbrokes Premiership Manager of the Month, has suggested a deal might not be gotten over the line.
They reckon Jones is worth way more than the fees Rangers are tabling, with Clarke declaring: “There’s been a bid, nowhere near acceptable.
“I would be a little bit sad if I was the player, to be honest, that the bid was so low. It was an easy one for the club to turn down.”
Rangers have already completed 4 deals this winter, but are yet to spend a dime as all are loan deals.
With little available to spend in the market, it remains to be seen if the Ibrox outfit will return with an improved offer for Jones.
Considering his pace, skill, creativity and work rate, the Northern Ireland international has everything it take to improve Rangers attack, and it’s why they must pull out all the stops to land him.
