Rangers reportedly identify Wales international as replacement as they expect bid for 24-year-old

As per Football Insider, Rangers are preparing for life without in-demand winger Josh Windass as they look to replace the 24-year-old with Wales international David Cotterill.

Windass is a wanted man back home in England, and despite already knocking back offers this month from the likes of Sheffield United, Preston North End and Wigan Athletic for him, Rangers are bracing themselves for fresh bids.

The Light Blues won’t hesitate to cash in for the right price for the English winger who would be open to returning to England, and are already looking to land Cotterill.

The 30-year-old was released by Birmingham City last month, and having once kept tabs on him, Rangers could finally swoop on the former Swansea City and Sheffield United man.

Given that Cotterill is available for free, competition is high for his signature, with Derby County, Nottingham Forest, Reading, Ipswich and Queens Park Rangers all keen on the Welsh attacker.

Windass’ exit will deal a huge blow on Rangers, but signing the experienced Cotterill could help soften its effect.

With over 400 club appearances and 24 caps for country, the English League One-winning wideman has a lot in tank to offer Rangers.
