Leeds boost as they could land target capable of helping with promotion ambition

According to French newspaper L’Equipe (via YEP), a January exit is on the cards for Leeds United summer target Montpellier defender William Rémy, with the duo of QPR and Brentford also keen on his signature.

The 26-year-old was a subject of a transfer deadline day bid during the summer, and with his contract ending at the end of the campaign, an England switch this month is all but guaranteed.

Remy has only played a league game for the Ligue 1 side this term, and has fallen out of favour and way down the pecking order that he doesn’t make the matchday squads any longer.

Leeds are expected to return with a bid as manager Thomas Christiansen is still keen on adding depth to his rearguard.

The promotion-chasing outfit have often shown that keeping clean sheets is their best form of getting results, and with a quality like Remy within the squad, there can be enough refreshed legs to get the job done as the campaign enters its most crucial stages.

Considering his aerial presence, strength and ability to start play from the back, the French defender fits the bill, and his arrival could do Leeds a lot of good going forward.
