Robbie Fowler has spoken out about why Liverpool collapsed against Arsenal on Friday.
The Reds looked set for a comfortable win as they led the game 2-0 at half-time through goals from Philippe Coutinho and Mohamed Salah.
They however collapsed during the second half of the game and the match ended off 3-3.
Liverpool’s defense has proven to be a problem this season and the frailties were especially exposed during the 4-1 defeat against Tottenham and during the 5-0 defeat against Manchester City.
Fowler believes that the criticism which the players of the side have been receiving is affecting their performances.
He said: “How could a team in total command, who should have been five ahead at half-time, got from a match-winning position to trailing in the space of five minutes?
“The answer must be mentality and sadly it looks like Liverpool are beginning to actually believe the criticism that was so viciously aimed at them earlier in the season.
“Arsenal were all over the place, they were outplayed and looked scared to death of Liverpool’s pace and movement.
“They seemed to spend virtually the first hour lumping long balls forward because they didn’t want possession. One goal should not change that situation.
