West Ham reportedly to beat Everton to signature of Europa League-winning powerhouse

According to the Daily Mirror, West Ham are hoping to beat Everton to the signature of Sevilla midfielder Steven N’Zonzi by moving to hold talks in the coming days.

Toffees boss Sam Allardyce is looking to reunite with the French midfielder having managed him at Blackburn, but he also has Arsenal to beat for the services of the 29-year-old.

N’Zonzi’s exit from the La Liga giants seems like a given after he fell out with manager Eduardo Berizzo. He has yet to play for Sevilla since the Champions League clash against Liverpool last month, and suitors are sure of their chances of having him in January.

The Hammers are badly in need of quality recruitments – a fact manager David Moyes stressed following their exit from the League Cup at the hands of Arsenal on Tuesday evening, and N’Zonzi ticks all the boxes.

The east Londoners can do with a top box-to-box midfielder in the Frenchman, and his wide range of passing and ability to read the game are features currently missing at the London Stadium.

N’Zonzi boasts of Premier League, Champions League and Europa League experience, winning the latter 2 seasons ago.

He could prove to be a campaign-changing signing for Moyes’ side, but beating Everton to his signature won’t be the easiest of tasks.
