Moyes’ recent decision appears to have dealt Newcastle’s transfer plans a huge blow

Newcastle’s chances of bringing West Ham goalkeeper Adrian to Tyneside in January have suffered a huge hit since Hammers boss David Moyes installed the Spaniard as his first-choice goalie.

Having started the campaign on the bench and firmly behind Joe Hart in the pecking order, the 30-year-old was considering a winter exit, alerting the Toons and a host of others.

However, Adrian has been in goal for the east Londoners’ last 3 league games, keeping 2 clean sheets – against Chelsea and Arsenal – and is now set to remain in goal for a longer spell and probably till the end of the season.

Newcastle had plans to sign a new goalie during the summer and despite failing to, manager Rafa Benitez still wants another shotstopper next month.

Given his Premier League experience, Adrian would have been a great option and signing, as he’s the type of goalie that can rescue few points for the Toons.

Newcastle have kept just 3 clean sheets in the league this term, and neither Karl Darlow nor Robert Elliot has been able to prevent the recent poor run of results that have seen them slip to 16th on the log following 7 losses and a draw.

The Toons can do with another goalie for the crucial second half of the campaign, but unfortunately, it can’t be Adrian.
