Rangers have been handed a boost ahead of the January transfer window, as summer target and Hearts forward Jamie Walker is now free to enter into talks with suitors.
The Light Blues saw 3 bids for the 24-year-old knocked back as the Tynecastle outfit held out for £1million for his signature.
Walker is now entering the last 6 months of his deal, and Hearts boss Craig Levein revealed: “Contracts end in May so Jamie has been eligible, or whatever you want to call it, to speak to clubs since the start of December.
“I don’t know what’s going to happen, whether he’ll leave in January or stay until the end of the season. We had conversations but that’s not for public consumption.”
Should Hearts choose to allow him leave for free at the end of the campaign, Walker can still sign a pre-contract, and his quality suggests he would be a fine addition to Rangers attack.
Injuries have limited him to just 2 goals thus far, but considering he weighed in 15 goals and 7 assists last season, the Scot wideman remains a top player that can aid Rangers bid to challenge Celtic for the title in the near future.
