Leeds dealt blow as defender is ruled out of action following knock against Leicester City

As if exiting the League Cup following their 3-1 loss to Leicester City wasn’t enough, Leeds United have had another blow dealt on them in form of an injury.

Left-back Cameron Borthwick-Jackson, on loan from Manchester United, didn’t resume play for 2nd half as Luke Ayling came on as his replacement, and it has been revealed he sustained a knock to his ankle.

Yorkshire Evening Post’s chief football writer Phil Hay took to Twitter after the game on Tuesday night to post: “Borthwick-Jackson came off with an ankle problem. #lufc”

Although the extent of the knock is yet to be revealed, but it’s possible Borthwick-Jackson gets sidelined for a couple of games, and that will come as a crushing news to the 20-year-old.

The Red Devils youth graduate has featured in just one Championship game for Leeds since arriving Elland Road on a season-long loan in August.

The young defender had a similar deal with Wolverhampton Wanderers cut short midway last season due to lack of playing minutes, and same could happen this time around considering he’s far well behind Gaetano Berardi and Vurnon Anita in the pecking order.
