Ex-Leeds star reveals what Lasogga must do to solve recurring shortcoming

Following a run of 3 losses, Leeds United got back to winning ways on Saturday, with the duo of Samuel Sáiz and Pierre-Michel Lasogga helping the side to a 3-nil victory over Bristol City.

The German striker scored his 4th league goal of the campaign after assisting the opener, and while he has been a decent goal threat, his mobility and endurance level have come under scrutiny.

Lasogga has played all 90 minutes 4 times, as his frequent tiredness means he has had to be withdrawn towards the closing stages of few games.

As a result, former Leeds United striker and BBC Radio Leeds matchday co-commentator Noel Whelan, believes the 25-year-old may need to lose some weight in order to keep up with the demands of the league.

Lasogga weighs 88kg, 7 more than his predecessor Chris Wood, and has been a perfect like-for-like replacement in terms of physical presence.

Whelam said post-game on Saturday: “I think that’s tiredness creeping in [late in the game].

“He is a big lad, he still needs to lose a little bit of that if he can and lighten himself up and be a little bit more mobile, but maybe that is not his game.”

Former Leeds boss Neil Redfearn earlier suggested Preston North End striker Jordan Hugill could prove to be a great signing for the club due to his mobility, and considering the demands that come with the team’s style of play, Lasogga will really need to shed some few pounds if he’s to keep up.
