Former Leeds United chief claims Christiansen must solve a certain selection problem

Pressure is beginning to mount on Leeds manager Thomas Christiansen following 3 straight defeats, and things could go from bad to worse for the club if the Spanish boss doesn’t come up with a new winning formula sooner than later.

The Whites face high-flying Bristol City away from home on Saturday, and a loss could set the alarm bells ringing louder than before.

Many, including ex-Leeds chief Neil Redfearn, are calling for swift changes to Christiansen’s starting XI, as the current lineup seems not to be working any longer.

Redfearn believes playing both Samu Saiz and Pablo Hernandez is costing the team.

The Spanish midfield duo are similar in style as they are both natural number 10’s.

However, Hernandez has been made to play on the left of the attacking midfield in order to accommodate the £3.1million summer arrival.

Redfearn is of the opinion that one of the duo must sit out in order for a natural striker to come into the right wing.

The 3-time Leeds United caretaker manager told Radio Yorkshire: “I think he’s got a problem and he’s got a bit of a dilemma here because I think his biggest attacking threats are Hernandez and Saiz.

“But they’re contributing to the problem. I don’t think he can play them both. Saiz plays in the 10 but if you want to go two up top then he’s got to come off.”

Christiansen will very much likely change his tactics or starting XI come Saturday, but it remains to be seen if he will be willing to bench either of his most attacking threats in the middle of the park going forward.
