Leeds have scored 18 league goals thus far, but only managed to get 1 in their last 3 games – which all ended in defeats.
The Whites secured the signing of 4 new forwards over the summer, but were hit with a blow when one of them, Caleb Ekuban, broke a foot bone during the league game against Sunderland in August.
The Ghanaian has since undergone surgery and is now nearing returning to full training with the first team.
The 23-year-old arrived from Serie A side Chievo in July for £500,000 and quickly highlighted his scoring prowess by netting on his debut – a 4-1 league cup victory over Port Vale.
Ekuban has already started sprinting sessions as his rehabilitation enters its final steps, and while he won’t likely be making weekend’s trip to Bristol City or feature in the other remaining 3 games of the month, he is likely to be ready for the visit to Brentford in October.
Ekuban attracted manager Thomas Christiansen after scoring on 17 occasions in 34 games for Partizani Tirana during a loan in the Albanian top flight last season.
Leeds could do with his striking services following their recent struggles in front of goal, and his return to full fitness would be a relief to the manager.
