Following 4 losses in their last 5 Championship games, calls are getting louder from many quarters for Leeds manager Thomas Christiansen to make changes to his starting XI.
Summer arrival and German goalie Felix Wiedwald has already been dropped for Andy Lonergan, and there could be more changes when Leeds visit Bristol City on Saturday.
Following the 1-nil home loss to Reading at the weekend, ex-Whites striker Noel Whelan claims a lot of Leeds regulars have a point to prove in order to show Christiansen they deserve to remain in his starting lineup going forward.
Whelan, who is the matchday co-commentator for the club’s games on BBC Radio Leeds, believes the game against Bristol City gives a lot of the players that opportunity.
He said post-game: “A lot of these players need to go out against Bristol City and prove a point why they are in the side and sitting in sixth.
“At the moment we’re just drifting by and each week, teams we should be beating, we’re not winning and we’re dropping points.
“They’ve got a lot to prove to everybody, the fans, come next Saturday”
Having gone without a defeat in their last 12 games across all competitions, 4th-placed Bristol City are set to prove a hard nut to crack for Leeds.
Anything apart from a win for the Whites will see them drop off the playoffs zone, and it could trigger memories of past campaigns when the club started promisingly only to fall flat at the end.
