While Rangers’ current position on the Scottish Premiership log and stuttering start to the campaign have done little to convince fans of the quality of the summer signings manager Pedro Caixinha oversaw, former Ibrox midfielder Bobby Russell has singled out one player for exploits.
30-year-old midfielder Graham Dorrans secured a £1.35million move to Rangers during the summer transfer window, fulfilling a boyhood dream in the process, and Russell is confident the former Norwich star can drive the Gers on this term.
Dorrans has 4 goals to his name in 8 league games, and according to the 60-year-old one-time midfielder, the ex-Scotland international has what it takes to hit double figures.
Russell also claimed the influential midfielder was one of Caixinha’s better signings, and reckons his experience would come handy for the Light Blues.
He told The Herald: “He was one of the better signings in my eyes. He has played at the highest level in England and he has played for Scotland as well.
“He has got four goals so far and that is not a bad return from a midfield player. If he can keep that going then he will get double figures, which is good.
“Graham has got off to a good start and he is the penalty taker as well and that will give him chances to add to his tally as well.”
Rangers resume action with a visit to McDiarmid Park to take on St. Johnstone on Friday, and will be looking to leave with all 3 points in order to keep the pressure on 2nd-placed Aberdeen.
