A squad overhaul over the summer saw a host of Rangers mainstays under erstwhile boss Mark Warburton leave Ibrox on temporary and permanent exits.
Amongst those manager Pedro Caixinha considered surplus to requirements was midfielder Andy Halliday, with the Portuguese making it clear that the Scottish man wasn’t going to be part of his plans.
As a result, Halliday, 25, sealed a shock loan move to Azerbaijan side Gabala, and has recently revealed he’s enjoying live in the former Soviet state.
The former Middlesbrough man, who arrived Ibrox in 2015 and has scored 15 goals in 92 appearances, is considering making his stay at the Qabala outfit a permanent one.
Gabala currently lie in 3rd place in the Azerbaijan Premier League, and having established himself in the side’s starting XI, Halliday is hoping to help lead the club to the Europa League qualifying rounds at the end of the campaign.
Of his plans, he told the Scottish Sun thus: “At the moment, two things are important for me – to play every week and to help my team win games.
“That’s my main goals. As to my future, I will talk with the leadership of Gabala at the end of the season.
“We are third in the league at the moment and we want to get higher of course. We have some very good players in the squad.”
From the look of things, Rangers fans might have seen the last of one of their favourites in the club’s colours following his latest admission.
