Alex McLeish gives inauspicious reason why Rangers lost against Celtic

Former Rangers manager Alex McLeish has claimed that the Gers did not look fit enough when they lost 2-0 to Celtic in the Old Firm derby this weekend.

The loss marked the third time in six months that the Gers went down to the Hoops and also highlights that they still have plenty of hard work to do if they wish to re-establish themselves as giants of Scottish football.

Goals from Tom Rogic and Leigh Griffiths were sufficient to deal a comfortable victory for Brendan Rodgers who look likely to dominate Scottish football once again this season.

McLeish, who was considered for the Rangers managerial job before being overlooked for Caixinha in February, said about Rangers’ defeat, “When the second goal went in, I felt that Rangers didn’t have the legs of Celtic.

“Okay, it hit the mentality big time in the fact that they lost a goal but I felt that there was a wee lack of stamina in trying to match Celtic after that because Celtic seemed to get much more space after the goal.”
