West Ham captain Mark Noble has apologized to a South Korean fan whom he thought was a Chinese national.
The incident happened on Twitter when Noble posted a picture of himself with a fan on Twitter near the club’s Chadwell training ground.
The picture showed a fan holding a shirt of Noble alongside the player and he captioned the image “All the way from China #COYI.”
The fan, who operates under the username @LingWann_ on Twitter, appears to have responded to the Tweet by stating, “Im South Korean not Chinese,” – with many liking and re-tweeting the response.
Noble was quick to respond to the Tweet and did so admirably by admitting that he made a mistake and apologizing to the fan.
Meanwhile, the Hammers are in poor form having suffered a 3-2 defeat against Tottenham this weekend and Noble will know that his team are in need of serious improvement if they wish to have a good season.
