Ex-Leeds boss says the Whites’ youngster must admit to harsh reality

Former Leeds United boss Neal Redfearn has said that the club’s teenage sensation Ronaldo Vieira needs to learn to accept that he cannot expect to play every week.

The youngster was one of the revelations of last season and played regularly under former boss Garry Monk.

However since Thomas Christiansen became manager during the summer, he has found regular first team game time harder to come by.

Though Vieira made 38 appearances last season, Christiansen has preferred Eunan O’ Kane and Kalvin Phillips above him.

Redfearn sees no problem with this and believes that being in and out of the side is a normal part of being a young footballer trying to establish themselves.

Whilst talking about the player, Redfearn told Radio Yorkshire, “Last year he was a permanent fixture and everybody thinks that he is got to play every week.

“But sometimes for young kids they go in, they come out and they will have to learn the process that they are not going to play every week. He is got to get his head around that, but the bottom line is that he is an unbelievable young talent.”
