As per Tutto Mercato (via talkSPORT), West Ham are keen on adding depth to their squad for the second half of the season, and did send scouts to watch Bologna duo Simone Verdi and Adam Masina during Tuesday’s 1-all draw against Inter Milan to that effect.
While the chances of landing both or even either of the Italian pair in January are slim, the Hammers will attempt a move and return by summer should they fail.
Verdi and Masina both played the full match against Inter, and have been key members of Bologna’s starting XI this term, starting all 5 Serie A fixtures of the new season.
Masina, 23, plays at left-back, and it’s a department West Ham really could do with more defensive reinforcements.
Verdi, 25, is primarily a right winger but can also be deployed to lead the attack.
He was handed a new four-year deal back in June as a result of his impressive form after his maiden campaign.
The former Milan man also earned a national team call up and earned his first cap subsequently, and could be a fine addition to West Ham’s attack.
Masina, the Serie B Footballer of the Year in 2015, offers technique, pace and energy, and also will come handy.
However, West Ham won’t have it easy landing the impressive duo, as a couple of other clubs are sure watching them and will give the London club tough competition when the transfer window opens.
