Slaven Bilic outlines West Ham’s plans for the EFL Cup

West Ham progressed from the Third round of the EFL Cup/Carabao Cup with a 3-nil victory over Bolton on Tuesday, and the Hammers have got plans to go all the way this term.

They have now made it thrice to the round-of-16 in the last 4 seasons having earlier seen off Cheltenham Town in the second round.

Manchester United ended their league cup campaign last term at the quarter finals, but manager Slaven Bilic has eyes on victory this time around, and is hoping the draws favour them en route a possible final.

West Ham have managed to pick themselves up after a shaky start to the Premier League campaign that saw them fail to land a single point in their opening 3 games.

The London Stadium outfit have 4 points from their last 2 league games, and Bilic is hoping the newly-found form of his charges help them go all the way in the League Cup.

While he promises to blend youth with experience, the Croatian insists he won’t be treating the Carabao Cup lightly as he would continue to name a strong squad as they go forward.

He told the press ahead of the Bolton game: “Of course, we are very ambitious and of course we are thinking about the cup in a positive way.

“We are not thinking about Spurs, we are thinking about Bolton because if we win, we are not far away from making it a big success for every individual and for the club.

“We [would] need a good draw. We would need a few top performances, and you are talking about three, four games, it’s not a league. It’s a good chance for us, like it is for all the clubs.

“I’m upbeat, if you are looking at the last week It has been a good week for us. We were on zero points having conceded ten goals in three games, now two games later we have four points and didn’t concede in either game. We limited two teams to one or two chances.”
