Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has admitted that Paul Pogba could miss this weekend’s Premier League clash against Everton following a hamstring injury which he suffered while playing against Basel in the Champions League on Tuesday.

The France international Pogba only lasted a few minutes on his debut as United captain before he had to be taken off.  He was then replaced by Maroune Fellaini, who subsequently went on to open the scoring for the Red Devils.

Mourinho said after his teams win against Basel, “It looks for me too [like a hamstring injury] but I haven’t spoken yet to the medical department.

“Squads are for this, squads are for injuries, squads are for suspensions. We don’t cry with injuries. So if no Paul for Sunday, we have [Ander] Herrera, we have [Michael] Carrick, we have Fellaini and we have [Nemanja] Matic.”

“I just know from experience it’s a muscular injury. In my experience, muscular injury stops you from playing for a few weeks, I think.”

The loss of Pogba will be a major blow for the Toffees considering that he is a key player for them.

This weekend’s game will certainly be interesting though as it will feature Romelu Lukaku coming up against his former club, while Wayne Rooney is also likely to face off against United for the first time after leaving Old Trafford.
