The Spaniard might have brought in his own players, but he has also demonstrated he is capable of bringing out the best in those he met at Elland Road.
Last summer arrival Pablo Hernandez is a prime example.
His work rate has been impressive and he’s has been consistent thus far. The former Valencia man lacked those two features last term, and Leeds’ over-reliance on him proved to be their undoing towards the end of the campaign when he suffered a sharp dip in form.
Under erstwhile boss Garry Monk, Hernandez was somewhat the only creative presence in the team. Under Christiansen, however, the duo of Samu Saiz and Ezgjan Alioski has made the team less reliant on the Spaniard.
The attacking threats and ability to carve out chances has been well-spread over the pitch, ensuring there is less pressure on the 32-year-old, who has been in his best form as a result.
Despite assisting and scoring just one apiece, Hernández has created 2nd most chances (8), and should he be able to continually replicate the outstanding performance he gave in Saturday’s 5-0 win over Burton Albion, he could play a very huge role in ensuring Leeds secure Premier League football.
It’s safe to say Christiansen has brought the best out in the once tagged luxury player in ways Garry Monk couldn’t, and this could just be the beginning.
