The recent change in managerial leadership at Elland Road came as a surprise to many, considering erstwhile boss Garry Monk decided to resign from his post 2 weeks after leading Leeds United to 7th place – their best finish in the last 6 Championship seasons.
One of those affected by the decision of the English boss is Pablo Hernandez, who was reunited with the now-Middlesbrough chief last summer.
The 32-year-old midfielder was brought in by Monk from Qatari side Al-Arabi in order to help with Leeds United’s title push, but now plays for a different manager in Thomas Christiansen.
Hernandez appears to have been somewhat let down by Monk’s exit, yet he is more than happy to continue with the club under his fellow Spaniard.
He told LUTV: “It’s true I arrived here because Garry called me, but it’s football, there is continuous change.
“It was not good for me when he left but I know I have a contract and I’m very happy to continue with the new gaffer.
“He knows my style. And all the staff are Spanish so I think this helps me [when it comes to] showing my best football.”
In 34 league games under Monk last term, Hernández scored 5 times, assisting 8 times and creating 82 other goalscoring chances.
His creativity hasn’t been in anyway affected with the change in the dugout, though.
The former Valencia man has featured in all 5 league games under Christiansen, assisting once and creating 7 chances in what has been a perfect start to the new campaign for United.
