In 5 league games played thus far, the Whites are without a loss – winning 3 and drawing 2, and there is growing belief around Elland Road that Premier League football might be back next season.
It’s been 13 years since that last happened, and Leeds could only come within whiskers of a playoff spot at the end of last season.
According to club forward Stuart Dallas, their incredible fans could be the difference in their promotion ambitions this term.
The 26-year-old, who arrived from Brentford on a 3-year deal in the summer of 2015 has been brilliant for Leeds, playing 71 league games, scoring 7 goals and emerging as the club’s Players’ Player of the Year in his first season.
As a result, Dallas was rewarded with a new 3-year deal on the day before Transfer Deadline Day, joining the likes of Ronaldo Vieira, Gaetano Berardi, Tyler Denton, Kalvin Phillips, Eunan O’Kane and skipper Liam Cooper to sign new contracts this summer.
Dallas is optimistic of Leeds Premier League chances, and has nothing but praises for the fans.
The Northern Ireland international said of them via Yorkshire Evening Post: “The fans are incredible.
“They pack out Elland Road now and they sell out away ends every week and that can be the difference in getting a team over the line.
“When you are tired and you are at the end of a game and you hear the fans pushing you on it’s massive and from a players’ point of view we have to repay them.
“They pay their hard money to travel to games which isn’t cheap to do and we are very thankful to the Leeds fans.”
Leeds recruited 16 new signings over the transfer window, completing deals for Hamburg striker Pierre-Michel Lasogga and Malmo forward Pawel Cibicki on deadline day.
Manager Thomas Christiansen would now hope to lead the club to the topflight – a task that proved elusive for 15 managers before him – at the end of 2017-18.
