Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has revealed that he expects Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to do well at Anfield.
The Reds spent £35 million to lure Oxlade-Chamberlain, who had been on the books of the Gunners first team for the past six years.
Though Arsene Wenger had wanted the player to remain at his club, he refused a new deal with just one year left on his contract and there was no choice but to sell.
Gerard, who now serves as manager of the Liverpool under-18 side, believes that Oxlade-Chamberlain will be a success for the first team and has the qualities that are necessary to thrive.
The former England and Liverpool skipper said, “I think he definitely strengthens the group and the team, He’s English, he’s 24, he’s just coming into his peak years.
“He’s a very quick and exciting player. It seems as if he wasn’t happy at Arsenal, so now hopefully he can settle down, give the best years of his career at Liverpool Football Club. But I think he’s a very, very positive signing.”
